The last time I was in SF ate at a resturant called the Stinking Rose. I believe it was in the North Beach area. Does anyone know if it is still there? And what do you think of the food?

There will be about twenty to twenty five of us. I want to do something different but not sure what to do. I'm also open to any fun activities for the group during the day before hand. We are all in our mid twenties to mid to late thirties. I'm her boyfriend and we've been dating for almost two years but I live in Seattle and we commute back and forth every month! That's why I'm not plugged into the SF scene. I appreciate your help.

I will be proposing to my gf VERY soon and would love to take her to a nice restaurant for dinner. I'd like a place that is not too crowded, is classy, and is not too exorbitant (recent grad here). Also, any beautiful views in the SF-EAST Bay area you would recommend? Thanks so much!!!

I made a reservation at Kingfish in San Mateo through OpenTable on December 1st for 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. We arrived for our reservation at 7:25 p.m., and were told that they had overbooked the restaurant and our table was likely not going to be ready until 8:00 or 8:15 p.m. One of my dining companions is diabetic and could not wait that long to eat. We informed the hostess of this and she just gave us a helpless "there's nothing I can do" shrug. Therefore, we let her know that this wasn't acceptable given that we had made a reservation 3 weeks earlier and told her we'd be leaving to look for another restaurant that could seat us immediately. She had the nerve to mark us as "No Shows" on OpenTable. If they had said it would be a 5-10 minute wait while they cleaned the table or if there had been space in the bar and they had offered us a complimentary appetizer, that would be one thing, but really! Am I wrong?

I'm looking for a fancy restaurant in or near Santa Cruz. What I mean by fancy is that there should be a dress code. For example, some restaurants require that the man wears a suit jacket. I need a really nice place to eat.
Also, what are the names of some moderate-nice hotels in Santa Cruz?

We are looking for a place where we can enjoy good food and dance. Something suitable for 30-40 year olds.

We did last Friday night. We had dinner there and my Fiance had food poisoning from the Salmon. It's weird that they had fish and it's a very popular place for prime rib. We called the restaurant manager the next day and he was very defensive and unconcerned. He thinks that we only wanted something from them. We're just concerned about other people who might have the same experience. My Fiance was terribly sick for more than 48 hours with no sleep and non-stop trip to the bathroom. We reported them to the SF Health Dept.

It's a terrible restaurant - noisy, crowded, and all the personnel seem to be such in a hurry. The prime rib was good, but we're not going back there ever again.

I went there as a child with my grandparents and loved the place. I have heard since that it isn't safe for caucasion and tourists. Is this true? I am planning a trip to S.F. and wanted to go back to Chinatown, but now I'm having second thoughts. It was a lovely place many years ago and I know things do change.

They have to bring them in fresh somewhere here in the East Bay/Berkely/Oakland area. I hate having to drive over to fishermans wharf everytime to get fresh crab. I want to buy and take home, not eat out. Safeway crabs are terrible.
