I want to get a head start and make reservations

My best friend and I will be in San Francisco for one day. We're looking for a great seafood restaurant somewhere near the touristy areas of the city. We'll be casually dressed, so it can't be a fancy spot. Something not too pricey would be awesome. Thanks!

I will be visiting San Francisco, so I am not familiar with the area. I would especially love to find an authentic argila (also known as sheesha and hookah) cafe. Any info on middle eastern (preferably Egyptian) restaurants and grocery would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I mean, I want top of the line, 2-3 hour meal, price no object. Preferably with a chef's tasting menu. I won't have a car, so I can't drive out as far as the French Laundry. Bonus if the restaurant is romantic, but good quality food is most important.

I'd rather go to SF because I know of lots of places there, but getting across the Bay Bridge on Val. Day is a nightmare (we had an unbelievably great dinner at L'Amour dans le four a couple of years back, but getting there was painful). I'm thinking French, Italian, Spanish, Mediteranean, but really anything that's really romantic will be considered.

Just curious, why are there no Filipino food restaurants in downtown or central San Francisco? With a total population of 45,793 or 5.9% of the SF total, you'd think there would be a market for this?

On a related question, why are there so many many Thai food places? In the Castro alone there are six different Thai food places within three blocks.

A friend of mine ate at Hooters this past weekend and was commenting on the large amount of homosexuals in the restaurant that night. Just wondering if the chicken is that good or are they there for some other reason...
