Looking for a great casual atmosphere, inexpensive and great food?

Please visit the C.C.A IE California Culinary Academy on Polk St. I trained there for two years. I can not remember the number of people that told me how pleased they were with the service and quality of their meal. All food is prepared and presented by students paying a substantial tuition under the critical eyes of some very experienced and dedicated chefs and master chefs. No where I've worked can serve such quality product and personal service for the price. Keep in mind these aspiring chefs are paying to prepair, cook, and serve you to the best of their abillities. Hence, the cost is "inexpensive". I know you will pleased. PS- So will your wife.

I like Luciano's in Alameda. They have great crab and lobster in season and some great Italian dishes. Steaks, seafood, pasta - the works. The owner cooks and his wife decorated the place.

Baywolf is also a great place - on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, but it's really pricy and I doubt you can get a res for February 14 this late.

There a place on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley called Downtown that is a pretty cool place - they have live jazz, and while it can get noisy, depending on whether it's a weekend or not, the atmosphere there is nice - white tablecloths, very soft lighting, and spaciousness so the tables are kind of spread out. It's right at the downtown Berkeley BART station.

Also check out Rivoli on Solano Avenue in Albany. It's reasonably priced and intimate.

Try Pier 29 in Alameda, now open in Ballena Bay. Also, Black Angus is a nice budget minded place to go for a nice dinner.

There used to be an Italian place on Main in Walnut Creek that was very nice. Great food. Very intimate. Can't remember the name. Was next to the Japanese place (also great food). And we always enjoyed Benihana's - fun! and fun drinks.

take her to the lake and have a picnic under the stars and moon and put some flowers in the middle of the blanket . She'll love that.
