I moved from Austin, TX and among the other things that I miss about the vibrant, liberal culture of Austin(thankfully New York offers the same) is the yummilicious tex mex food. I have burnt my fingers attempting at several "Mexican" restaurants in New York and have not been really satisfied. Would anyone know of a place that serves genuinely good Mexican food?

Please response only If you have experienced the Mexican restaurants of Texas/NM/ California, and have found something that can compare in this city. If you do not have the benchmark, you may not be able to relate to my frustration.

I went to a family style place. I ordered a ceasar salad and got one with italian dressing. I always go there and order the salad and I knew it was wrong. I asked her to please bring me the creamy ceasar. Then she brings me creamy italian. I didnt eat the salad so we ask the waitress to take it off the bill because it was not correct. The waitress gives us a dirty look and calls the owner. The owner asks us what is the problem. And says says we have to pay for it cause it was ordered. It is your word against the waitress and she says you ordered creamy italian the second time. I told her I never ordered that and she said again you have to pay for it, it stays on the bill. Then I said well the customer always isnt correct are they? She said no they are not. The bill came out to $22 and my friend then gave $30. We get $2 change and the waitress had kept $5 for her tip. My friend asked for her money back. Then she leaves the waitress $5 anyway

should we have tipped at all?

Going for a girls weekend. Staying on Nicollet Sat night. Any recommendations for a fun restaurant close, probably around $20 a meal, and prefer a non-chain.

I have everything going well - except we have a night to take all the customers out and show them a great time. We have the budget, we just need the ideas.

Any ideas from anyone living in the area?

A place we can have an open bar, dinner/catering, and tons of fun!

To give you an idea of the things we do, I planned a show in South Beach this year and we took the customers out on a Tikki barge (floating island complete with sand and palm trees) with dinner/dancing, open bar, cigar rollers, Henna artists, etc.

We have the $ to drop so don't be shy about the ideas! (know a place where we can see celebrities hanging around - no we won't stalk them - or something we can rent out for the party of the year!)

A group of friends and I are looking to dine out for Thanksgiving in NYC this year. Several of us want the normal Thanksgiving fanfare, while some are vegitarian and are looking for tofuturkey. Does anyone know of a place we could go together in Manhattan? (Maybe one of the many prix fixed places?) Thanks!

I'm looking for the ultimate, huge, tasty, real cheesey, refried beaney, and cheap-o bean and cheese burrito in the entire bay area (the closer to oakland the better, but not required)? Can you help? are you a certified burrito lover. Any sarcastic answers like Taco Bell or El Pollo Loco will be flagged for idiocy (haha).

Hello. I have been wanting to treat my husband to a nice dinner. I want to take him somewhere in Orange County but will go to LA if worth it. He likes seafood and jazz music. I want to take him somewhere romantic but I don't want to have to FULLY dress up so it would need to be somewhere that I could just wear nice slacks and top.
Any restaurant ideas or places to take him afterwards would be VERY helpful. This is not for any special occasion, I just want to take him out.

Thanks :)
