You might be thinking of the fact that Joan Kroc lived at Fairbanks Ranch, just up the coast from San Diego. I did some work on the house back when I was a man, and a carpenter. Nice place, if you can get by with only 20,000 square feet (plus the guest house, which was about 6,000 sq. ft.).
