Please help. My roomate's remote control apparently burst into flames last night and I need to know why. Here's the story:

About 2am, my roomate and his girlfriend woke to find their room covered in smoke and there was a fire next to the bed. They woke up immediatly and put the fire out. It turns out the fire came from the remote control to their tv. There is no question whether it started from the remote or not, you can definatly tell it came from the middle of the remote control. There were no heaters directly on it but there was a heater in the room. There were no lit candles nearby but there were some old ones that had not been lit that day. It's a preety empty room so I cant think of any more surrounding items that may have caused it. Can someone please tell me why the remote control tried to burn my house down and how to make sure it doesnt happen again!!!! Thank you so much for your help.

We bought a 36in TV from an Estate Sale, told it worked we didn't check it at the sale due to the low cost. HOWEVER it has a permanent area at the top left where it is discolored (like effected by a magnate).

Is there a way to reverse the effects from this? The TV is great otherwise.

This stops happening after the TV has been on for a while, but is really annoying. I've checked and rechecked the connections and all are fine.

By the specifications I found on the Samsung website, the two are very close but not sure which one is better, best for the future. I also read that LED backlights are better than fluorescent because it offers the potential for more consistent picture quality over the life of the set and more accurate colors. Both have HDMI, tuners. I know the resolution of 1080p is coming next year but don't know if either of these models have it now. I would appreciate your help.

I have noticed for a while that the color is really dark and I have to adjust the brightness. Now, tonight, I turned the t.v. on and it had no color. (Just Black and White) A few minutes later, there was a loud snap and the color came back. Is my t.v. going, or is there something simple I can do to keep it from doing this again? ( The t.v is about 10 years old, btw)

My roomate watches way too much TV. His "list" of shows he must watch has grown from 2 from 9-10pm to its current level at 8 to midnight. During the day he watches Nickelodeon and Animal planet. I've told him many times he needs to turn it off or lower the volume, but it constantly comes back on. I can't focus on my studying while this happens and i am constantly wasting time when i have none to spare. This is pathetic, for his and my sake, tell me how to mess it up. Please nothing that can be traced back to me. e.g. Putting it in the shower.

I'm thinking of getting a HDTV and I was wondering if freeview channels or even terestrial is in better definition than a standard tv, or if you need to get sky HD to get any better definition.
