My roomate watches way too much TV. His "list" of shows he must watch has grown from 2 from 9-10pm to its current level at 8 to midnight. During the day he watches Nickelodeon and Animal planet. I've told him many times he needs to turn it off or lower the volume, but it constantly comes back on. I can't focus on my studying while this happens and i am constantly wasting time when i have none to spare. This is pathetic, for his and my sake, tell me how to mess it up. Please nothing that can be traced back to me. e.g. Putting it in the shower.

There is a better approach than ruining it - just silence it.

There are cheap bluetooth headsets made for TVs. You plug the transmitter into the phone jack in back of TV and then the sound is broadcast to a set of headphones. That way he can watch TV and listen to it over the headphones without any sound coming out and bothering you.

No, you can't ruin the TV. Because its not a tube tv or CRT projection you don't need to worry about video shielding. However most speakers today are video shielded anyway. This means a magnet is placed over the magnent of the speaker with the opposite polarity so there is no magnetic force coming from the speaker. With tube tv's and crt projections this could cause coloring problems and cause the guns to get out of alignment.

If you're in the UK. It's easy. You take the fuse out the plug - wire it across a car battery - so it blows and put it back in the plug - and TV don't work! There are other more technical things to do to lower the volume - but that is the simplest. If it runs from an aerial cutting around the aerial cable with a razor blade through the shielding - will give him a really crappy picture.

I was going to suggest the magnet thing too, but to big of a magnet is obvious. Do it a little at a time over a week or so. Also, you can try screwing with the actual speakers in the tv by getting to the wires and diconnecting or burning the wires witha lighter while unpllugged. No sound = boring. But dong that little trick witha small magnet over time will make it seem less apparent that you did anything.

While he's not there, and by your post i see that it rarely happens, do this :
1.Open the tv
2.Find the electrical circut that leads to antena cable
3.If you see any electrical components, with bare wires, put 12 volt battery directly on them. Or if you can, conect 2 or more, parallel way, to get the strongest possible amount of ampers. Then just connect it with some of the components, to screw them up. This should disable him for some time, and nobody will know how it happen!

Easy, block ALL of the channels with a Parental Control lock. That way YOU have control over how long, or what he watches. If it's disrupting you...ask him to please go somewhere else/to a friends house to watch tv.

If you dont express your feelings to him, then he's not going to change.

Just get a Parental Control Lock, and block every single channel. That way, he'd have to ask you to watch TV.

Start by buying earplugs. I did because my hubby snores and it kept me awake. Life is better now.

If this doesn't work, it sounds like your room mate is very infantile (ie..the types of shows he watches) so you must treat him like a child....tell him you will make a deal, he can watch his shows if he tapes them and watches them while you are in class.

For gods sake don't put up with this though, your education is valuable as well as expensive! Worse comes to worse, you can write up a bill to charge him by the hour for your time...LOL...that might get his attention. Besides, if he doesn't pay, you can take him to small claims court and sue..perhaps getting on one of the daytime court shows! Then he will have something to watch! LMBO

Use a couple of big speaker magnets... Code blue.... CLEAR! or pull the plug out just a tad and drop a penny so it shorts the two leads on the plug... If there is a 110v or 220v switch on the back turn it to 220v and let it ride for a while... eventually it will kill the power source on the TV... of course, you could just use a golf club and put an end to it in one quick swing.

Harming a television is not advised because you can get injured or someone else, simply get ear plugs or a different room mate.

find yourself the biggest magnet you can get.
turn the tv on and hold the magnet up to the screen.this will screw up the color so bad that it won't be worth watching-leaves no trace of what happened.
