Hi Muzman,

If you're looking for the best package for your money, go with Dish Network.

Some people say that storm or other weathering effects make one package better than the other.

Nothing could be further from the truth. If your satellite is installed in the proper location, pointed in a good direction, and the mount is stable and secure, you should have no problem with both.

If you're having issues with this, the installer probably didn't do the best job ...and there isn't anyone perfect out of the thousands of people that do install - most of which do no work directly with Dish Network or DirecTV (man of them are independent contractors).

While Dish has tons of sports packages, DirecTV is known to show sporting programs which Dish doesn't offer. If you're really into football and wan't a lot of exclusive programming related to it...you might as well get DirecTV. Both satellite TV (Dish and DirecTV) and cable TV have exclusive programming.

In my opinion, Dish Network is the best (it has hundreds of channels available- and also many international programs if that's what you're looking for).

Was a DISH subscriber for a couple of years...loved it. Only rarely had a problem with signal outtages. And getting DVR is cheaper. Had to switch to cable (moved into a condo facing north)...the reception is much worse, it costs alot more. $10/mth for a 40-hr DVR? On dish it was $5/mth for 100-hr. And I had more channels than I do now.

Can't comment on DirecTV, but DISH was awesome. Don't know why people who can get satellite go with cable...less channels, more money, worse reception and horrible customer service. Can't wait to move and get DISH again!

Depends on how much you like football. Content wise dishnetwork offers the most, More channels, More HD, and international Packages. Directv is the only provider that gives you all the NFL football games. That alone is enough for some to choose Directv, other than that I see no reason to choose Directv over Dish.

I had DIRECT TV.....rainstorms would knock out the Satellite Signal.....BUT DISH doesn't lose the signal!!

Dish has local metropolitan stations, but DTV kept promising it was coming in a couple months.....never did...then when it did, they CHARGED YOU for it.....Dish includes it with your subscription.

I'm MORE happy with DISH instead of Direct TV.

Well I have cable, but my grandparents had Dish and had problems for years. they now have direct tv and not only does it save them money, but it actually works better during storms! so i would say direct tv is better.
