alright i have one dish dvr box and use it as a dual thing so its in two rooms. i recently switched the box to the other room that didn't have it and the remotes aswell and they work for the satellite but the universal part to turn the t.v off/on is opposite for one onther. so the remote in one room turns the t.v off in the other and vice versa. is there a way to fix this? how do i do it?

Comcast is trying to get everyone to move to digital. I have an old Tivo unit and I'm concerned that it will not work with the new Digital programs. Just getting a new digital channel Box won't allow the Tivo to change the channels, so this would make me assume that I may have to get a new Tivo. I"m not really wanting to go this route since I don't have the Bucks at the time and not sure if they even MAKE a Tivo which works with Digital Cable. I'm not looking for "guesses" or the like, I'd like to hear from anyone who has had the same situation or who has an intimate understanding of the problem and it's solution.

Our Sky Digital went down yesterday, it just says "no signal received". We have tried turning it off for 10mins and then turning it back on (which has worked in the past) but this makes no difference. On a signal test it shows no signal at all. Everything is plugged in properly, the dish hasn't been moved and our neighbours are not having any problems at all - anyone got an answer???

So, I am planning to burn a classic and hard-to-find Hindi movie for myself. I need to burn it onto media that will be readable in a regular DVD player in India. Any hints on what kind of media I should buy? FYI: Hindi movies typically take up about 6.5 G - they are long.

I'm trying to connect the kitchen tv to my HD DirecTivo, but only have coax run to that room. Will a normal RF modulator transmit a HD signal, or am I going to have to output 480i to get pictures on both my main display and kitchen TV? Don't have one, and don't want to buy one if that's the case.

qoute:
The TV is a passive device. "no disc" means that your player is in DVD player mode, but there is no DVD disc inside the drive.

Set your player in HDD-player mode, start playing, and you should see the video playback on the TV.
off qoute

I've had Dish Network for a few years. Now I am considering a DVR, but we only use cell phones, so I have no phone line. It pisses me off that they charge this $5 fee for not having a phone line attached. I asked them why is it needed? Does it affect functionality? They say no, the DVR will work fine without a phone line attached, except for PPV orders.

As far as I am concerned I take it up the rear twice. I pay because I do not have a phone line, then I pay AGAIN on every PPV order.

So I asked, if the phone line is not needed for functionality, then what is it used for? No intellegent response from any of the 5 or so reps I asked. I can only assume that since it does not affect function, the phone line must be used for another purpose. It seems logical that they must collect info about how many people are watching certain programs, and then they sell that info. Sort of like a nielsons ratings box. Why else would they want a phone line connected? What do you think?

I was thinking of getting a TIVO, but I was wondering if anyone out there has one and what they think of it. Also do you have to have a special service through you cable company it order for it to work, or can you just plug it in and your good to go. I have had a DVR and I really loved it, but it was just to expensive and I gave it back. Does TIVO work the same way or does it just record T.V.? Thanks for any imput.
