I am not quite sure what you are talking about.
If you have a freeview box which requires an aerial then the dish aerial you have bought does not take a strong enough signal for your needs, and you will have to get a better quality aerial either on the roof, or in the loft.

If you are talking about satellite free to air then you might have to have the dish realigned.
If you are using a freeview box, and a satellite dish, then they are not designed to work together, and I would be surprised if they ever worked.

The trouble would appear to be that you have connected a satellite dish to a freeview box. A bit like putting jam on a sardine sandwich. You're probably getting just about enough signal leaking in for the freeview box to work most of the time.

I would recommend that you either:
1. Connect your dish to a satellite box instead of a freeview box.
2. You get rid of the dish and put up an antenna, while keeping your freeview box.

That's the BIG problem with digital, it's all fine or else total crap, nothing watchable in between. You might get better results if things are re-aligned with a proper signal meter (waving it about looking for the "best" picture simply won't do) or even you might need a bigger dish (especially in North)

You can't correct the weather I'm afraid - rain and atmospherics do interfere with the signal - even on digital broadcast

A dish is no good in reality - you need a HIGH GAIN WIDEBAND aerial - about £30 from Argos - + fitting - although I put mine in my loft and it's fine but even in heavy rain and thunderstorms the picture goes for a while

Your signal obviously isnt strong enough. I had to have an outside aerial connected for mine and now the picture is perfect most of the time. It cost about £100 to have is supplied and fitted but was well worth it.

we have the same problem. If your watching BBC, BBC2, itv or channel 4, just unplug the freeview aerial and plug the normal aerial in the back. At least then you can watch those channels if freeview is being temperamental. That's what we do.

Or if its really annoying, maybe you could get sky or virgin. Unfortunately their really is nothing more you can do.

I hope this helped.

If you are using an internal aerial, then you may need an amplifier to boost the signal. Argos have some very nice aerials for indoor use with inbuilt amplifiers.

Hope this helps.
