i have dsl and then going tho a converter to make it a 5 cat. how do i get it to split in to and get the one line to work with a house phone. so then i can use the computer and the phone at the same time with the one line that i have in my room. is there some kind of plastic converter to have the 5 cat to a phone line?

Hi Greg,

A standard phone splitter will work. Walmart has them for about a dollar.

On one side put your DSL line filter then your phone. On the other side connect your modem without a line filter. Your modem has a cat5 outlet that connects to your computer. You don't need a converter.

DSL requires you put a DSL filter IN EVERY device that uses the phone line.

So here is the flow: Phone line - DSL Filter - DSL modem - cat5 - (optional) router - computer(s)

The DSL filter should have a phone output as well where you connect your phone.

Goto tandy or your local telstra shop and purchase a ADSL splitter.
