Start by finding a literary agent, and avoid "Vanity" self-publishing companies. No one but family and close friends buy and read those, so if your goal is to be read, don't bother.

There are several websites out there that will help you find an agent, my favorite is QueryTracker.net at http://www.querytracker.net/ . It is free and has a list of literary agents and also tools to help you keep track of who you already queried and who you haven't, plus more.

They do a good job of keeping the crooks off their lists, but it is still a good idea to double check at http://www.sfwa.org/beware/twentyworst.h...

There are a lot of crooks out there. Never pay anyone to read or publish your book. A real agent will never ask for money except as a percentage of your royalties.

Keep in mind that finding an agent and getting published is not an easy process. Some people have to query hundreds of agents before they find one who will accept them (sadly, some never get accepted), but be persistent and keep trying.

You should also visit http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/, one of the largest forums for writers. They can be very helpful.

Good luck.

brokers won't touch something that's already revealed (if it extremely is a good company) niether will they submit issues that have been placed on the internet. Synopsis's is superb yet once you upload chapters then no. additionally with self-publishing you have doomed your self. Your e book isn't getting everywhere so which you write something else and innovations-set an Agent. they like to appreciate whether you have any matrerial revealed, then they like to appreciate whether it bought. Yours has no longer, they ask your self why and wont settle on your artwork. you may ask why your artwork hasn't bought. Self-Publishing could make or injury you and intensely in many cases it breaks you, now you will conflict to submit something with your background. i'm able to't urge human beings adequate to study each angel of Publishing and in my trustworthy opinion stay away from Self-publishing. Sorry to grant you basically undesirable information, even regardless of the undeniable fact that it is not your e book that wont be commonplace yet you besides. i'm able to't even inform you what to do and you will no longer get out of it i'm afraid. i'm no longer an author myself I artwork for the 'dark area', human beings should not be so petrified of brokers we don't chew that no longer basic.

Each Book Publishers has "Editors" responsible for the books they publish.

Basically you need to contact one of the editors and provide a book proposal with:

a) A synopsis of your book (Table of contents)
b) How it is different from other books in the field
c) A short bio of the authors (explaining your qualifications in writing this book)
d) Target audience (experts? professionals? consumer?)

A sample chapter does help, but it is not necessary

If you contact a couple of publishers, they will be more than happy to assign an editor to review your proposal.
