Music & Music Players - November 2007

[Selected]: All categories Consumer Electronics Music & Music Players

It was working great just a couple days ago; I think I might have knocked the needle a bit, but I really don't know anything about record players. Any ideas on possible problems/solutions would be really really appreciated.

My computer crashed the other day and I lost all of my music. Luckily I have it all backed up on my ipod. There must be a way to get this music from my IPOD onto my new computer. Are there any programs that do this? How about internet downloads? My music library had thousands of songs and the last thing I want to do is rebuild it. Please advise!!!

I have a 5th generation video ipod, 80GB. I wanted to sync an album to my ipod through my sister's labtop, but for some reason the CD could not be read. So I used the computer to transfer the songs to my ipod that way. I did everything the way I always do. I waited until the updates were complete and then clicked the eject button. Now comes the bad part. I plugged my ipod back into the laptop and I noticed it took awhile to connect. So I restarted my ipod like I always do anytime it freezes on me. But nothing happened so I gave up and decided to listen to my music on my ipod. I look through the artists and I get a blank screen! I start freaking out so I restart it again thinking that it was a mistake but I still get the blank screen. All my music and videos are gone, but the pictures I had on my ipod are still there. Does anyone know what happened to my ipod?

""If you use a program to create an audio CD from mp3s, you will lose the benefits of the compressed mp3 data format, and will only be able to fit a normal number of tracks on a CD. Normal CDs can only fit a certain number of minutes of audio on a single disc, as they store audio in uncompressed format.

To store a large number of mp3 tracks ona CD, you need to burn the CD as an "mp3 CD" or a "Data CD" (depending on the program you are using). This keeps the mp3 files in their compressed data-file format, rather than expanding them into audio files. I can normally get 150-170 mp3 files on a single CD-R, depending on the quality of the mp3 files (higher quality mp3 files take up more space, and therefore fewer canbe fit on a CD)." this was written as a response to a question "shouldnt i be able to fit more then 18 songs

What programs can i save a cd like this with, that is free preferably.

Side one of a cassette tape often had a gap betweeb the end of the last song and the end of the tape. The manufacturers used to say that this was a "convenient break between sides". Why don't CDs have this convenient break?

Wal-Mart has an RCA Opal 8MG MP3 player for about $89. This seems like a really good price for an 8MG player.

Does anyone know anything about this unit and how it compares to other MP3 brands?
