There's not really that much room to put rear speakers, so there's a table in front of where I plan to sit. Would mounting the rear speakers under the table pointing at me work?

What are the differences in specs? Which one is higher/lesser grade? What makes the higher grade cable better?

(hot and bothered, too)

Occasionally when plauing a movie, sound and image will freeze at exactly the same spot on disk. From which no FF or any fwd command will work, except restart, but then it will lock up in the same exact spot once again.

Common sense sez it's a flaw on disk surface, but there no visible trace of such a thing.

What-to-do what-to-do what-to-do.

Any help ?

Thanks in advance.

I sort of like the system i brought but i would like more total sound level. I keep hearing about 5.1 but my question is what speaker system will imatate the sound i recieved from my 600 watt component sytem? I know an amp wil be invloved. I am trying not rebuy bulky speakers or even have twenty thousand of them flolating around my living room. ( sorry small children play area included with my living room). So when answering please treat me as if you are talking to a person that kinows nothing becasue i don't.

I have an old coaxial cable for regular cable but dont know if I need something better for HDTV.....

also...if I use a digital splitter, what is the difference between a 7 and 3.5 dB output?? Does that matter for the quality of the picture?

I have 2 subwoofers, 400W RMS, 800W max each, wired at 2 ohms each. I've looked online on http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm, and it doesn't really say much about power, only about amperes, and I have no idea what voltage is on the amplifier output to calculate how many watts or amperes there are. So, the question is - what gauge wires do I need if I decide to wire both subwoofers to my amp in mono, and need to run at least 6 feet, preferably 15 feet long wire? I have 18 gauge wire and plan to use about 15 feet of it to connect the subwoofer - is the wire going to fry when I run 1000 watts through it? Another question - how exactly does the volume knob works? "Turn it clockwise and sound increases" is not good enough. When I turn the knob - does the voltage in the wire increase or amperage? Maybe, both?
P.S. Please stick to the topic and talk about wires and volume knobs only.
Thank you, everybody, for your effort.

I have a few DVDs from overseas and I want to buy a DVD player that can play them as well as my region 1 US DVDs. Are there any players that do that? (I've also heard that there's a disc you can buy that tricks a DVD player into playing another region's DVDs.....any info on that?)

Also, if I had a multi-regional DVD player, I heard that a new encoding format for Region 1 DVDs, RCE, won't be able to be played on a multi-regional player. Is this true? Do I need to worry about the new blue discs and HD discs that are coming out not being able to be played on such a player?

its damn costly in our place the starting price for a 5.1 with AV receiver is from 600$ so not much scope for upgradation.

I have read a number of reviews where people noted that they found no significant improvement in the video output from a DVD Player that upscales to 1080i and 720p.
