I think they are asking about consumer players. The answer is yes. There are numerous, including Yamaha's DVD-S2500 player. The Firewire port is used for High -Rez audio including DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD

many DVD players use firewire or IEEE-1394 has an audio transfer. You can not connect it to a PC beacuse the data is encrypted, only an A/V amp with matching connections will work with this. Pioneer, Yamaha, Marantz and Denon players have this on some of the higher end models.

video capture cards do not cost that much,hauppauge got a nice card reasonable
