I have read a number of reviews where people noted that they found no significant improvement in the video output from a DVD Player that upscales to 1080i and 720p.

Yes! LG LST-3510A combo HDTV Tuner and
HD upscaling DVD player. Outstanding up-conversion to 1080i and 720p via DVI and Component. Hard to find now. I would recommend
you try a LG standalone HD upconverting DVD
player.

no improvement in picture quality really ... if there is you would have to strain to notice it . the biggest benefit is if you have a widescreen tv then the alternate resolutions will allow u to fine tune the picture to fit the screen better without distorting the aspect ratio ... its not worth big bucks tho trust me.

depends on the player, cheap players sub £250 have poor scaling so you won't notice, more expensive ones you will.
