These batteries are about 3 years old. They used to hold a charge for months, now barely a few days. I have tried putting them in the freezer for days, no real change.

I have hundreds of old negatives from the pre-digital era. I want a cost effective way to scan them. Big film scanners are expensive. Stores want about 50cents per shot scanned (translates to expensive). Has anyone had any experience with the regular flatbed HP scanners (e.g. Scanjet 4370) with their negative adapter? Is the quality good?

I sent a photo to a friend yesterday.(ive just bought a new digi camera)This was their reply when i asked if it was recieved ok:
Received, but it took a while. The file size was 809k, nearly I Mb. For someone without broadband downloading the image would take an age. For email purposes you may need to consider reducing the resolution. How do i do this? i cant ask the responder as they are at work!!!

I would prefer to scan them myself, as they are very old and there are over 100 of them.... links to reputable scanning/preserving services welcome, though.
