If you are ruling out specialized cameras, such as the one on the Hubble (Good answer, though!), wild and crazy panoramic cameras, or professional cinematographers movie cameras, chances are still that a Leica is the most expensive camera available for general consumer purchase. Or Hasselblad.

Leica cameras back in the day were the Rolls Royce of SLR cameras---and their prices were hefty, too! I saw a brand new Leica SLR camera body alone go for about $2k.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leica consumer level cameras were still pricey. I have seen other high tech cameras, primarily used for businesses with high picture/optic needs, go for about $30k.
