I've been researching for good DSLRs for a few days now. Now that the Sony Alpha 100 and Nikon D80 are out, the job has become tougher. Any ideas what is the best DSLR one could get for within $500-1000?

My camera manual has weird instructions about the type of batteries to buy.

Here's what it says:

The following AA (R6) batteries cannot be used.

1. Batteries whose bodies are only partially or not at all covered by an insulating sheet.

2. Batteries whose (-) terminals are raised, but not covered by an insulating sheet.

3. Batteries whose terminals are flat and not completely covered by an insulating sheet. (Such batteries cannot be used even if the (-) terminals are partially covered.

I bought rechargeable NiMH Energizer AA8 batteries but they won't work in my camera. Anything you can recommend?

I'm thinking about getting one, and I need to know which one I should get. Something that isn't outrageous in price, I know most are expensive, but is there one that I can get that isn't over 250 and is good quality?

My Fuji S5200 came with a 16 MB xD card. All the print on the surface is in silver ink. (Logo is Standard gold color).
As I look on the internet I notice cards with Silver color letters and other xD cards with Gold letterings in the size area.

There is a difference, however when I contacted Tech assistance today the tech did not know the reason for this difference.

Would anyone have the answer. Thanks

Or will they blow up? Electronics are cheaper in the USA & I want to buy a digital camera from there, but I don't know if it will work. Can I just get a 240v adaptor or is is more complicated than that?

The last time it was fixed for free (warranty expired). I'd hope they'd do that again but it seems like they should just give me a new one ... it has always been internal damage, never misuse.

Are all pentax lenses compatible with the k100d and k110d? I'm new to digital photography, I've been a canon AE-1 user my whole life. If I were to put an older lens on one of the new dSLR's what kind of functionality would I lose? I'm assuming aperture on the new cameras is controlled by the LCD on the body instead of the aperture ring, but if I put a lens with an aperture ring on a new pentax will I be using the LCD screen or the ring to control aperture? Any other information I could get on Pentax lenses would be great also.
