The last time it was fixed for free (warranty expired). I'd hope they'd do that again but it seems like they should just give me a new one ... it has always been internal damage, never misuse.

If it ever broke while it was within warranty (like the first time), keep pressing them: tell them the first fix never worked. But if it's out of warranty, you may be out of luck. You can keep trying though: they can sometimes do exceptions.

Canon sux, I will never buy another product from them. You should try to call customer service and complain harshly that the camera is junk, you've had nothing but problems and it has already had to be repaired 4 times. Don't expect any mercy. I bought a $2000 upper line video camera from them several years ago and the sound went out. I sent it in for repair and they sent me somone elses $50 camera and sent my video camera to 'who knows'..had to hire an attorney to get it back. .. I would suggest a Sony. I've had several of them now with no trouble what so ever...Good Luck with the Canon idiots...

If it's a lemon, you have rights. As a practical matter, if you sue the manufacturer/importer/distributor in small claims court it is cheaper for them to pay or replace it than to defend. I did that with Dell (2 weeks before the extended 3-yr warranty expired I complained about a broken hinge and alleged metal fatigue; their call center guy in Bangalore argued "wear and tear" or in the alternative "abuse"). I sued in Small Claims Court; they have a woman who does nothing but deal with lawsuits; she arranged a pickup and a full repair. They even repaired things I didn't complain about and that probably weren't covered.

Go for it.

Have you tried taking it to the store you brought it from? If you can bring proof from Canon that they've kept having to repair it, the store might be able to cut you a deal. I say might, but it's worth a shot.

I've had the A75 for several years and haven't had any problems.

It all depends on the state where you live. They should do it on their own but there is probably no way to force them. I usually buy major items at Costco. They have an extremely liberal return policy and if you had the item for less than a year they would probably refund the money.

you got a lemon. since the warranty expired, they won't fix it for free again.

maybe if you write the company and tell them your experience, you may get lucky and they'll send you a camera free of charge.

but other than that, you gotta buy a newbie.

they only give you a new one if the damage cost more to repair then it is to fix. Most will give you a repair and not a new one.

To be a good company. I certainly think they should. I would ask for a new one, if they give you stink, head up the ranks until something gets done.
