All the DVDs in the US are region 1, right? All the DVDs I have ever bought or rented, I could play them on my DVD player. However just yesterday when I tried to put on the DVD I had just rented from Blockbuster, I kind of seemed to take it a long time to read it, and then it said, "Bad disk". I tried to play on my computer, and then it told me the DVD's region code was different than that which the DVD player on my computer had been configured for. It said that the DVD was region 1, and the DVD player was for region 2 DVDs. But it had always worked before. I tried to reconfigure it for region 1 but it wouldn't let me. Anyone have a solution?

someone told me to modify my ps2 console so that i can get to play or insert ps2 discs made locally here in the Phils. can it be done? is there a risk to my ps2 console? any comments or suggestions?

What are your thoughts of cellular phones? Me I think they're great for emergency purposes but I think they can get really annoying at times such as when people are using them while operating a motor vehicle or if you're talking to somebody and all of the sudden their phone rings.

I am interested in getting a Panasonic sc ht740 home theater. However, the sales person told me that I would only get surround sound from DVD's and that my normal TV viewing would only be in stereo (front speakers only). Is this true or is there a way to hook the components up so that I will get surround sound from both? I have a HDTV and local cable service (HD programming). Are there any other remotely inexpensive starter home theater systems anyone would suggest?

Five years ago, you would be corrected if you referred to your favorite rock group's latest CD as an "album". Now, CD's are becoming outdated due to MP3's. If you download an entire set of songs from your favorite artist, what do you call it? An "MP3" would only suggest one song, it's obviously not a "CD", and some would argue it's not an "album" because it's not on vinyl. So what do you call it!

THere is a rumor that the 360 will come with a memory card that costs 200 bucks in the fall or winter..not sure. I want to get a 360 now but if its going to cost 200 bucks less than I guess I should wait..but if its not true, then I'll get it now for $399 plus memory card

I own a Playstation 3 and I just don't know what makes the 360 a next gen console. To me the 360 is just like the regular Xbox except it breaks down more often and it has just a few upgraded specs. The 360 doesn't have a motion sensor controller, it still uses standard DVD's, and it doesn't have a built in HD-DVD drive. So what makes the 360 different and innovative from the original Xbox with the exception of upgraded specs?

I have a Goodmans Digibox that has stopped working. The picture on the TV is not too bad, but the sound keeps cutting out. It shows a good signal. Is there a simple way to repair this or is it just a case of chucking it out and getting another digibox? (It was a present so I don't have the receipt and the purchaser has now moved away.)

Sony claimed blu-ray was necessary for this generation of console gaming. If that were the case, why does the Xbox 360 version of NCAA Fooball 2008 support 1080p while the Playstation 3 version supports only 720p?
I'm not a "fanboy" of either system and I enjoy both. However, if the supposedly inferior game format is, in fact, the better choice, should I even bother with the PS3?
HDTV is an important factor for me. Otherwise I would not care.

Hi can anybody give me any advice. My boyfriend received 3 texts messages today and a balance update. The 3 text messages took £15 of his credit. The thing is, he hasn't subscribed to anything and is really upset by this. Does anybody know if/how he can stop the text messages and if/how he can claim his money back as he cannot afford for this to happen. Thanks, any advice appreciated.
