yes, most definetly. The PS3 from version 1.7 I think it was actually upscales DVDs to 720i or something like that so the picture quality is better than from a normal DVD player. PS2 games are on DVDs and most of them work fine (the ones that dont is nothing to do with the DVD). DVDs, CDs and Blu-Ray discs will all work fine on your PS3

Yes u can, also there is a bluray remote available which u can use when playing bluray or DVD flims on ps3.
Also ps3 has a DVD upscaler so u play ur DVD movies in HD mode if playing on a HDTV.

Yes, you can play regualar DVD's with the PS3. The PS3 can play almost every type of disc format except for HD-DVD's and PC games.

The PS3 makes ordinary DVD's look better too, so watch your DVD's on it instead of a DVD player. they will look good I promise.

yes you can it can play everything and of course it can play blue ray's and that just a key sale but it can play your old school dvds!!!
