I am about to change cell phone provider and am sick of buying time I never use.

I do reverse number redial and I get a "This number is no longer in service" message. So far it's 2 different phone numbers.

I was listening to a popular radio consumer advocate. He said that you will actually get a better picture using an antenna to get your HDTV vs. cable or satellite. The reason given was that cable and satellite have to compress the signal, but free over-the-air does not.

In the computer world, there's lossy compression, like JPEG, where some clarity is lost. Then there's ZIP where no data is lost and you receive a perfect reproduction.

So I guess their are 3 questions:

1. Is an over-the-air signal compressed or not?
2. Do cable and sattellite companies use a "lossy" compression scheme for the HDTV signals.
3. Is it true that the HDTV picture is superior if received from over-the-air transmission.

I need to replace a screen on a rear projection, Mitsubishi TV. The screen was accidentally pushed inwards, and got ripped in the process. The screen seems to be made of some sort of fabric/plastic. How much will it cost me to do that - and is it even possible? The TV functions ok, otherwise.

I found the entire song from the Audi commercial where she sings "Streets of Tomorrow" because it sounded like Annie Lennox. Anyway, the song is by Carla Vallet and I really like it! Anyone else hear the whole thing?

Im building thise race track thing and there is a relay circuit. what it is when the light turns green it also triggers a relay to a release cylinode ( electric motor) which in turn lets the cars go. ANy way the problem is the motor draws to much current and the rely for the light sequence stays suck rather than returning to the stop red. So if I piinch the bare wire with my had it causes some resitance (queston 1 : how do i mesure the amount of resistance im giving). this pinch allows the relay to set, as well as it resets fine with out the motor. Question 2: Ive got a 9-18volt dc motor 1.98 A max , Im powering it with a 1 second burst of a 5vdc load,
how many ohm resitor should I use?

I dont want to put the phone on ebay before anyone suggests it. I founds a site called envirofone. Really I want to recycle it. I watched a program on BBc1 tonight and they where doing it only I didnt note the site that they used.

i have a pentax K1000 that i recieved as a gift from my father. it is like brand new and has a big zoom lens attachment for it. it takes beautiful pictures and i like it because everything is manual on it. how good is it and how much is it worth?
P.S. the pawn shop told me it was worth 25 dollars... but i dont believe them.

I have a 30 GB. A picture comes on the screen and it shows an I-pod with a sad face then it makes theses clicking sounds. I accidentally left it next to a magnet all night. Is my I-Pod dead or is there something I can do to fix it. I really need your help thanks in advance.

I really like the look of the Panasonic ones, and my VHS recorder was a Panasonic (it's lasted nearly ten years, amazing considering it has been used almost daily!) so I want to stick to the brand. I will be looking at ex-display or 2nd hand items because I can't afford new, I just want something that will replace my video recorder effectively and efficiently. I find it really difficult finding what I want on review sites, they always seem interested in the latest and most expensive models and probably judge them on much higher standards than are necessary for my needs, I'm just Joe Average and not a home cinema perfectionist freak.

Suggestions on what to look for, in-depth knowledge, or personal experience is most welcome!

PS Component AV I/O (phono) is a must.

My dad says that i dont get good sleep when i leave the TV on but i am actually more entergetic and i dont get as tired as i do when he makes me turn off the TV. He says that without the TV and the flashing lights that i will do better in school but i actually failed a test after sleeping a night without the TV. Soooo....whats the deal...
