The hard drive is a platter which records data using magnetic waves. All the data in the MP3 player is stored on the hard drive; music and the operating system. If the music files become damaged, it's no big deal because you can always sync up with your PC. However, if the operating system becomes corrupt, then the player doesn't know what to do when you turn it on.
Go to this link and follow the instructions. You will lose all saved data (read music) on the player but you should be able to sync it to your iTunes library when you are done.

First of all, you can't kill an inanimate object. Secondly, you can bring in your iPod to the nearest Apple Store and they will help you out regarding fixing your iPod. That magnet might have done something to the memory of the iPod.

Now with downloading music, you won't be ready to study the conceal sleeves, and so on, and that i for my section like doing that.

You most likely damaged the hard drive. Magnets are not good for them. Best bet is to send it to Apple for repair.
good luck!
P.S. love your pic!
