The K1000 is a true SLR classic. It was always considered a high quality, rugged basic 35mm SLR. No fancy features, just what you need. It was never a very expensive camera, and is a pretty old design. So when Nikon, Canon and Minolta were pumping out SLRs with feature after feature, Pentax kept on making the K1000 for years after it was outstyled and outfeatured by other cameras.
It's value today is that of a classic camera. A solid performer- but there isn't much of a market for consumer level film SLRs these days with the advent of digital photography. And- since the much more featured and capable SLRs are selling for next to nothing, your pawn shop guy is about right. You might be able to get someone to give you $50 for it- as the camera does have a following.

Depends on your needs and expectations regarding how "good" it is. It is an older 35mm film camera, and in the age of digital which has pretty much KO'd film these days except for purists and very serious photographers, it is considered a dinosaur. An honorable dinosaur, but still old and out of style. I've got one, and "used to" use it alot. But now I've got 2 DSLR's and haven't shot a roll of film in probably 8 years or more.
All that said, if you want or like to use film, it is a very good camera, well respected, and it used to be used for photography classes a lot. I used one in college, but that was 1983 too! They are fairly manually operated, as compared to all the automatic point and shoots that most casual photo shooters like these days.
So, since you sound like you like manual cameras, it is good!
About worth....I've seen them sold for around $100 in good shape, if the lense is a good one, that could add a little more. But probably no more than $150 at absolute most....provided you can find anybody that still uses film?

I also have one with lots of lenses. I keep mine just in case I want to take photos that require special settings & different lenses. I would never sell mine for 25 bucks. As far as I'm concerned it's worth a lot more than that.

the k1000 is a great camera, in fact i have one that is at least 25 years old and it still out performs my others. i have a minolta as well. and i will say the pentax is far more my trusted friend. i have dropped from my hands, and dropped it down hills and even dropped my my motocycle once. i am really not that clumsy, but things happen! anyway, it is a tough camera that has great lenses and it will be around after your others die. now if you want to go to digital cameras....keep the k100. it is a great camera and will be there when you need it.

Actually it's an "old" but good camera. I had one for my graduation and that was eons ago. The guy at the pawn shop is full of tripe. Keep it and buy accessories for it. It's a reliable camera, will last for years.

That's a great camera. My father owned one until he decided to sell it on eBay awhile ago. I think he got around $65-75 for it.

The body itself, like new, maybe 100. By "zoom lens attachment", you mean zoom lens? Depends on the make/zoom range/speed.
Keep it, if you like shooting film. Good workhorse camera.
