Software - August 2007

My movie maker was working good untill my mom tried to copy a CD with it instead of the media player. now I try to go on it, and a window pops up saying the movie maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. It suggests e-mailing an error report (I've mailed about twenty by now) All I want to do is fix it without paying someone to do it ,or buying new software that's simmilar (which I just might do if this dosen't work) any suggestions?

I want to create a slideshow with music. I noticed that photobucket has slideshow ability but there is a limited number of photo's you can include. I would like a program where I can include a larger number of photos.

Just curious. I use MS Office most of the time, but I've been a fan of OpenOffice since its StarOffice/StarWriter days, and I still rely on it on one of my computers.

I have a HP laptop with Windows XP Mediation. I have my automatic updates turned on. XP keeps trying to install the following update: “Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181)”. It will ask me if I want to install it and I click yes. Then it shows the installation as complete.

Within 20 minutes, it is asking me if I want to install it even though I just did install it. I've tried rebooting, but it keeps happening. Any suggestions?

I have recently downloaded a rar file which I extracted OK and tried to convert & burn with vsoconvertxtodvd. It starts to convert so slowly ( it says 9 hours on the screen) & my Computer virtually comes to a standstill. So much so I had to erase it. Could you please explain to me why this is so. I can watch the movie using VLC Media player

I got windows xp pro i want to format it by using ms-dos off a floopy disk. I ve been told that if i got a recovery partion on my pc and i format my xp pro. Then my windows xp installion will not be deleted. Is this true? How do i check to see if i have got a recovery partion? ( I think i got one is it the partion with 7 mb)

I have read the technical reference manual and I am 100% sure that I followed all of its instructions. (Yes! even the floppy disk thing...) I already partitioned the SATA HDD and loaded the XP setup and it automatically restarts the pc... but at the "loading of XP" screen part... the loading bar stops at the middle and a "Stop Error Screen" appears. What do you think is the cause? Please help me.. thank you.

I think i pressed a button or a key or conbination of keys or somthing and now when i go to the internet explorer the taskbar automatically hides itself. it has done it before and i fixed it.

But i cannot remember how i did it.

Can some1 help me.

Ok, I was doing a practice lab that involved setting up RAID 1...and it wasn't working.

First, I set up dynamic disks. Then went to computer management and right-clicked the unallocated space, and chose to create a volume.

In the box that pops up, I got "Simple Volume", and the other choices were grayed out...including the choice I needed, which was "Mirrored Volume".

I tried many different things, including formatting simple volumes of equal sizes.

No matter what, I could never get the option to create a Mirrored Volume.

Any ideas?

This was a lab computer, ghosted with Win Server 2003, with about 3 GB or so default for the primary partition, of which I can choose whatever I want for unallocated space.

I own the Adobe Photoshop 7 program. I used it with my older computer with windows xp.
Recently I baught a high end media pc with windows vista.
First thing I did was to install my Adobe photoshop 7 and also my LiveMotion 2.0. Well there is a conflict with windows vista and I ended up loosing all my disk rom drivers. Had to take it back to factory settings and everything was fine.
I want to load my photoshop 7 and haven't found any info to convince me to load it up safely without loosing my rom drives again! I'm thinking that the "LiveMotion" may have been the problem and I don't care to install that now. I just want my photoshop back! Any suggestions?

Every time I delete them they come back in time. I fully deleted Limewire because... It would keep popping up after I shut it down. I believe that is a virus. As well as the one that puts alot of programs in my shared folders. The programs are things like Microsoft, X360 and MANY more. They come in the hundreds if not thousands. I tried deleting it and all other viruses but it still comes back. So now I completely deleted limewire from my computer and there are still pop ups that say it can not start up Limwire and blah blah. So I deleted Java from my computer. I want Limewire back, so badly. And I think I need Java. I tried restoring my computer but since the virus is a file it doesn't go away. HELP HELP HELP
