rar file download?

I have recently downloaded a rar file which I extracted OK and tried to convert & burn with vsoconvertxtodvd. It starts to convert so slowly ( it says 9 hours on the screen) & my Computer virtually comes to a standstill. So much so I had to erase it. Could you please explain to me why this is so. I can watch the movie using VLC Media player

You neglected to mention what the file type was you are trying to convert. Is it an avi, mpg or what ?

Is this a legitimate purchase or a stolen film?

If legit then go back to who bought it - if it is stolen - I can't help
