You really need an upgrade in RAM. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware all compete for system resources. The presence of Malware (viruses, spyware, etc) will particularly eat up your system resources so you may want to run your resident security products such as antispyware and antivirus applications to ensure that your system is clean.

Too vague...

Please re-post and describe your specific problem, with the name of the specific program you think is causing the problem and all error messages (if applicable) and a list of your PC, components, and operating system.

If your machine hasn't completely given up the ghost, reboot the darn thing to see if you can re-create the problem, taking careful notes on everything YOU DO along the way. Write down any error messages you encounter and don't leave out any of the "techno-gobbledy-****".

Then, we can try to help.

512 is nothing as far as some programs are concerned. You need to upgrade the memory or forget about the program.

That's why programs have minimum requirements on the package. So you can check your computer's resources versus what is necessary to run the program.
