Software - March 2007

when I tried to open it today it opens. but when I click enter to continue from the main screen the program closes. I tried the program on windows XP and on 2000 and the same thing happens. It is material requirements planning software that I use to cost out jobs. I can email program if you think you can help. I need to get this working ASAP. thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Outlook express - a friend has sent me an .exe file as attachment but outlook express doesn't allow me to do anything with it and on the mail there is a yellow line saying that the access has been removed. Can you help me? I need that file!!!

I know that 2007 allows 3 computers to be given the system (from one copy)

But i have a questuion and i want to see if anyone can tell me.

I recently bought Vista and installed it on to a second partision with XP on the other.

This was done so i can stil work with some programs Vista wont take.

In order to have maximum security i put Norton Internet Security 2007 on both systems.

My question is this...

Since NIS allows up to 3 systems on one copy,

would it consider that 1 system or 2?

I'm using Windows 98. (I also drive a stick shift and have the last manual-focus 35mm film camera in Stanislaus County.)

I can click on Start -> Documents, then right-click anywhere in the list and select "Sort by name". They stay sorted by name until I open something else; it goes to the bottom in chronological order. If I shut off my machine, they revert to chronological order when I turn it on again.

I'd like to set something, somewhere, to tell the machine to keep my recent documents in alphabetical order all the time.

As usual, Microsoft "Help" doesn't.

I want to see how loud I should be putting my music. Is there a program that can be installed on your computer to see how loud the music is? It could measure the sound via microphone. I would love to try out a trial version or download a free software that works. I want it to measure sound volume in dB :)
Any help appreciated. Also, please please don't give me other info other than that I ask of. I don't want 50 people telling me how loud I should listen to music, I already know :)

I have ran the Exchange Mailbox Tool ran, i have updatred all workstations and servers to the latest service pack. The appointments still show 1 hour ahead (and yes they were the organizer of the event). I even tried the Outlook Update tool on the client and it didn't work. What am I missing here?

I need some software to design fairly simple wood structures, such as cabinets or desks.

I would like to be able to do a lookup of a range of values, how would I set up the formula? IE I am trying to say if my number of widgets is 10,500 what would my price be when I have a band of values for one price point.

So lets say volume bands are:
Price
1 to 10,000 $3.00
10,001 to 30,000 $2.00
30,001 to 100,000 $1.00

Does anyone have WordPerfect? If you do, I made a cd cover on it and now it won't go back to the normal size of the paper. Does anyone one know how I can chage the way I view the paper? It is really annoying! I need to start writing my lab report! If you totally don't get this and you have Wordperfect email me and I will try to explain it better.

OK, so I just got Warcraft 3, i installed fine, tried playing but then It said I had the wrong type of Direct x (needed 8.1) now I have 9,0 or 9.1, and so I ran the Direct X diagnostic, and everything should work, except that when I go the the Display tab in the DX diag, It shows my video card (s3 savage 4) old one I know, the notes say
No problems found.

To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.

Direct3D functionality not available.
You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer. I can enable and disable the directdraw, and apg texture, but not the direct3d. How do i get it?

Yes, I said compy, lets just ignore that.

I have an old Pentium 2 desktop, 128 ram, 4 meg video card (not OTB crap, it's actually half way good, for 10 years ago anyways...) floppy, CDRW, all the sweet stuff for a ten year old computer.

I need a Linux distro that can run on this old machine, I tried PCLinuxOS, and it booted, but had tons of problems with the desktop not showing and stuff.
So are there any Distros made specifically for old computers or old versions of distros that haven't expired.

BTW, I'm not using windows 98 because I got the computer second hand, no windows CD, and it practically blew up in my face, I had to end up reformatting the hard drive to the point where I didn't even have DOS on it any more, only thing I have is Award Bios, which thankfully can boot from the CD ROM.

I bought a HP Pavilion about two months ago and I have been using it's DVD burner. The program that came with the computer is Sonic DigitalMedia. I don't like it though. Sometimes it claims it can't read my Blank DVD or I get errors and it won't copy. I have to change the options sometimes to get it to work but the same settings don't work with each blank disc, even if the blank disc are the same type. I need a program that will not give me any problems.

I downloaded Bearshare and some songs. (not knowing they were protected) I want to put them on my iPod using iTunes. I want to know what the best and the most simple program to use to take the DRM off of the files? I have a lot of files so is there any program that will do a batch of files at once? Plz let me know. PS I have Limewire but it makes my comp. too slow!!! So I want all these wma files to have the drm stripped off so they can be converted to Mp3 so I can put them on iTunes.

i downloaded a movie from this program a little while ago and it took like about 2 hours to download. Then finnaly i pressed open to open the file and it opened into windows media player it said that it was loading then it said something about error decoding codec. So the movie doesnt show up but i can hear the sound but no picture.
