I want the window up that lets you choose to add or delete icons, such as network places ect. One of my icons on the desktop has no option to be deleted when i left click it!

There a several special Windows icons, such as 'My Network Places', that can't simply be deleted from the desktop. To choose whether or not you want these icons to be displayed, do the following:

Right-click on the desktop. Choose 'Properties.' Select the 'Desktop' tab, then click on 'Customize Desktop...'

Now, select the checkbox of the icons you want to appear on your desktop, and deselect those you don't want.

do you have an unused icons folder I have that and every now and then i get a message to clean my desktop up.

Try going into My Computer and adding/deleting programmes

Don't you just right click it then?

I think that's right!

But that doesnt remove the whole thing... you have to remove programme using add/remove section.
Go via start> control panel>add/remove programmes.
Find the one you dont want in there, and highlight it then press 'Remove' on the right hand side of the column.

That should get rid of the little blighters for you!!! LOL

1) Right click on desktop and select "Arrange icons by" then select "Show desktop icons"

you can just right click delete on the icons

I'm not sure but u should try highlighting them and pressing 'delete' above your arrow keys =)
