How can I get my plug & plays back-lost all my start ups can't connect to internet after downloading bad file

Question

I downloaded a file which corrupted my my PC w/Windows XP while downloading music. I can not connect to the internet, print, can not open "help and support" Can not restore. Help!

Try restarting your computer in safe mode. Hit f8 as soon as you boot. Keep tapping it until the boot menu pops up. Select safe mode. Perhaps in safe mode you can disable whatever is causing your problems. In safe mode go to Start>Run and type in msconfig. Click on the start up tab and uncheck everything except your antivirus. Then I would suggest running your antispyware program, your antivirus programs, etc.
