I heard some people actually do get sued and go to jail for pirating.
My hard drive crashed so I bought new one and tried to install the Win xp os, and I thought my self would microsoft sue me because I'm installing on different hard drive eventhough I'm not going to be able to use crashed hard drive. would they say I have to purchase another license? What is regulation on these microsoft os? I been hearing lot of people (including entire chinese population) use pirated os which I don't get how they do. not get caught and etc.

if you want, include what you use, i've been using suse for a while. Also if you love to hate Microsoft, like i do (although i do sometimes use that too) feel free to comment on that too! So what is it that makes you love it? Is it that fact that it's open source? or do you like it because of tux, the mascot penguin? all answers welcome :)

Using W98, Ive seen the dialogue box a million times, but if I've already chosen an opening program, (incorrectly) it has that icon and there's no "open with" choice when you right-click on the file itself.

I recently converted these bunch of clips into dvd but I can't edit it with Windows movie maker. I put in the dvd, open up Windows movie maker and when I go to the dvd with the video clips, there are two files. Both are empty! Please help! How do I edit the video clips? Thanks for answering. Much appreciated.
*note* I tried updating the movie maker, but the update refuses to work.

I downloaded the ISO for both Kubuntu 6.06 and 6.10, but I can't get either of them to run. Every time I run 6.10, I get the main menu screen and select the option to install/run live but it just takes me to a screen with a blinking cursor and nothing else. When I run 6.06 and select install/run live, it says:

"Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

"[17179571.916000] ..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC"

Then it just shows the blinking cursor after that.

A user on the Kubuntu forums said that he did something with his BIOS and power settings to fix it, but I don't know how to do that and I'm afraid I'll screw something up. (You can view the forum thread at http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=6020.0)

Any suggestions?

open a new blank word document and get a message that reads:
this installation of microsoft mac x exceeds the number of instalations permitted.

at first i didnt know and tried to download it to a regular blank cd ....when i played it on my dvd player, i heard the song but didnt see the music video......so, then i was told to do it on a dvd-r.....and i bought them and nothing plays not even the song, whats wrong??

I normally use Firefox, but for some sites I need to use IE Explorer for some reason. Today my IE Explorer 7 stopped working - it just crashes with an error report message. I did a fresh reinstall, but the problem persists. I wondered if it was a Norton Internet Security 2007 problem.

What is odd though is that if I switch to another user account on my XP Pro machine, IE Explorer 7 seems to be running fine. But when I switch back to my regular user account it crashes again.

Are there some kind of settings I can just delete?

EVERY TIME I INSTALL SOMETHING...THE WINDOWS THAT COME UP DURING THE INSTALLATION ARE CUT OFF. I HAVE TRIED CHANGING FONTS AND THEMES AND NONE OF THAT WORKS. AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT LET ME RESIZE IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

When you sign in under another user OR guest, Internet Explorer will not start. Gives an error message: Some files have been corrupted. The program will not work probably except you reinstall it. Why? What do I do? I did reinstall it under administrator, to no avail. HELP!!!
