I don't have an i-pod, but you can take this information for what it's worth.

Opinion: The big secret at Redmond is that existing applications and new products will not work with Vista.

Microsoft really doesn't want you to know this, but many of your existing applications won't work with Vista. In fact, some brand new products won't work with Vista.

At the top of that list of "It doesn't work," we find, believe it or not, Microsoft new music player, Zune. Yes, that's right; Microsoft's iPod killer doesn't work with Vista.

Not only will Zune not work with Vista, it also doesn't work with all media files that are protected with Windows Media DRM (Digital Rights Management). So much for PlaysForSure!

Microsoft promises that Zune will eventually work with Vista, but don't you find it a little scary that the boys from Redmond couldn't get their number one Christmas toy to work with their number one operating system?

last I read was that Mac wasn't making itunes to support on vista. It doesn't mean it won't work, it just means if it doesn't, apple won't fix it.

it's just another blow in the huge Apple vs Microsoft that's fueled all of computer competition since it's start.

Mac's always been faster on innovation (mouse, graphical OS, like windows, stability etc.) but Microsoft got the jump in marketing, which is why windows is everywhere.

Now microsoft is tickin' everyone off with vista propriety etc. and Apple has the tool of massive ipod use to combat people upgrading to vista.
Ms will of course, support zune and want you to switch to buying their stuff instead of apple's... see where this is going?

Windows Vista is going through the same growing pains as any other new operating system. Quality drivers take time to write. Be patient and keep checking back for upgraded i-Pod drivers; they are on the way. In the mean time, you will have to borrow someone elses WinXP machine to load music.

they resealed a patch for iTunes yesterday that fixed that problem. now you can - you just need to get the latest version on iTunes completely free.
