Software - March 2007

I'm interested in a photoshop program for my mac to enhance, edit, and make cool effects on my photos but I'm not sure what program would be best to use? I'm not familiar with any of them really and I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, just something to fool around with. any suggestions?

Like what's a decent free program that I can download so I can rip parts of a DVD to my computer? Or even site that I could rip DVDs from would work, just as long as it's free.

Alright this is really bugging me. I used to play a game on my Mac it was probably about a 93, 95 or 97. So the background was black and green and you were a thing that could shoot at these boxy triangular things and I almost remember them being either blue or red. And there were pyramids and cubes and stuff that you could run into and you could either choose if they were filled or solid. You could pick up amunition off the ground it was like green boxes or something like that. It wasn't like realistic it was geometric. Can ANYBODY HELP ME?

I know nothing about Mac's and got this one free from a friend. It's a G4 running 10.4. All of a sudden one day I turn it on and it begins to boot up, but right as it gets to the screen where the blue bar loads across in the white window (I don't know what you guys call that), it removes that white window and just the blue screen remains. It will go back between displaying a cursor and the little loading dial near the bottom of the screen in an infinite loop. That is where it gets stuck.

I tried resetting the button near the battery, no luck. Please help in laments terms, as I do not know anything about Macs. Tanks!

So far I have seen and heard very little good in regards to the Windows Vista operating system. For those that have already purchased a computer with the system, or upgraded to it, what are your veiws and comments on the Vista system. I have yet to hear anyone really claim to like it, and some of the details I have seen so far indicate that Vista is pretty much a bloated, before its time, memory hogging excuse of an OS.

Why immediately after installing my Window XP Home, i receieved the Window Registry error message? It is very annoying as it continuously pops up and ask me to go to download some pay software i.e. Regetry Clean or Regwinclean.

I installed Advance Registry Optimizer but later i was told the window registry has change the system clock trying to defeat the Registry cleaner. Now it is no longer work.

Any free Registry Cleaning software reccomandation? What is registry anyway????? Please HELP!!!!

First, I want to address one issue: why can't I install XP on my brothers Dell which came preinstalled with Vista. I'm doing a fresh install on a new hard drive, not the one that came with the computer. The “blue screen of death” keeps coming up.

Second, how do I install Linux on the computer? Are there any software compatibility issues like Vista? And how complicated is the installation process? I’m a novice computer user, so I shouldn’t have difficulty understand computer jargon. Thanks for the help.

Whenever I try to open a downloaded video file for editing, I get the following error message:

[file location/name here] could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialogue box.

The problem is, that box doesn't even exist! So how do I check a box that doesn't even exist? How do I fix this?

when i do that i have to use my reinstall disk of windows media center 2005. how can i make it a partition so i can have both media center and windows vista. For example i have them both how do i switch it from windows media center to vista or vista to media center. where do i go to switch. plz help me..

No I do not have the the CD and I know it's been discontinued, but I know there's somewhere you can DL it. I tried Picasa2 from Google and it's nice and all but I want a certain effect. My friend had a picture where it looked like she did Sepia then did this effect where it made it look like some k ind of painting. Not cartoon or drawing but a painting. She told me she did it with MS Office Photo Editor.
I also have PS CS2 so if it has that effect in there somewhere, I'd like to know. I'm very new to CS2 and only know a/b 1/20th of that it can do. :[

just bought HP laptop with Vista and it did not include any software cd's. The only thing i have is a restore partion on my hard drive. As a rule of thumb I like to have a copy of OS to reinstall if needed. I thought i heard that the manufacturers had to send a cd if asked, is this true?

Does anyone know of software I can get to edit my LCD screens. I want one corner of the screen to display regular TV channels and the strip on the side displaying images I upload to the software. Something like the TV monitors at the check out lines at Albertsons. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
