Software - March 2007

Everytime i go on msn and open another program while i am on there, my whole computer freezes and i have to turn it off. its soooo annoying. do anybody have a solution or reason for this? thanks

I downloaded internet explorer 7 and it is in my add remove programs but its not in my program files or start menu - anyone know where i can go to find it or run it.

I know it doesn't include "Remote Desktop Services", but does it include the CLIENT software? It seems to me it would, because wouldn't most people want to connect to a remote desktop from home?

I've been making videos with my Windows Movie Maker. I record the videos on my webcam then I use the Movie Maker to cut some ends off and add titles and credits.
Sometimes when I'm ready to save it says that it can't save because all the files aren't there or there is not enough space. But all the files are there and before the movie is made they show me how much room will be needed and how much space is available. The needed room is always in MBs while the space is in GBs. I even just tried cutting some ends off but I still get the same problem.
What's going on?

hi all,


I was using captivate and i ran into a little problem. When i capture the screen with audio. I tested my movie and it will only play one slide at a time. What i mean is that it will play slide one. Then stop. Then i will have to click the forward button or the next button to go to the next slide. I will have to keep on doing this throughout all the slide. Is there a way to just have it play all the slide straight through?

It was able to play all slides staright through when i don't record the audio with it.

Please help

When I try downloading any new software from the web, I keep getting an error message that reads "Another installation is in progress. You must first wait for that application to finish before installing this one."

This keeps happening, no matter what I try to install. Virus check and ad-aware check on system don't help. Any ideas?

Is there a way of obtaining most of the Windows Updates that have been released since service pack 2 for XP was released?

I have a few PC's to rebuild and would like some way of saving the updates so I do not have to download them all the time.

I have saved the main packages (WMP & IE7) but would like to have all the files downloaded to save time.

Is this possible?

When I right-click on an object, the following things occur:

- that particular window like Windows Search or the particular Windows directory will stop responding and

- my cpu usage will shoot up to 100%(well, actually it's 95% or slightly higher, as reported in Process Explorer).

I have taken the below steps:

-Switched Theme to Windows Classic. Before that, I was using a custom theme.

- Disabled "Show shadow under menus" in "Appearance" ---> Effects. I'm currently using only Clear Type and no other effects. I'd previously disabled most other options.

Some info:
My operating system is Windows XP Pro and I have 1 gb(2 pieces) of ram. I've many programs(movie codecs, games, anti-spyware, etc.) installed and I really should uninstall some of the ones I don't use anymore.

What else can I do to rectify this issue, apart from reformatting? I'd also like to know how to remove certain options from the right-click Context menu that displays in Windows Explorer.

When I turn on my computer, a window pops up showing
"could not load target dll ("c:\program files\back web\back web client\6.2.3.66\program\back web.dll", error 12-6) Not sure what this means or why it keeps showig up. Anybody out there run into this problem & what did you do? Thanks

I have alot of documents at home and work that I would like to scan and then edit in Microsoft Word or Excel. Basically I do not want to recreate the documents from scratch and have to figure out the formating and do alot of typing etc.

These documents are complex forms with many different margins, boxes, and graphics. Will the scanning document software help me? Would it be worth the $129 investment?

for example, im downloading 3 movies.. but i want to download 2 more.. it is advisable to wait for the 3 movies to finish downloading or 5 all movies at the same time..?

When making a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation, does anyone know how to add music to the ENTIRE show--so the music plays through the whole show? Right now, I can only figure out music for one slide.
