Open in in photoshop or any of the tonnage of free image managers that read .PSD files and save it as a jpg or whatever you want. If you need a free image manager go to http://www.freewarefiles.com

depending on your version (6 and above)
goto FILE>save for web... and select the quality of the compression (lower more pixelated/worse image quality), make sure you select jpeg in the right hand side drop down.
alternatively in lower versions(or 6 and above) goto FILE>save as... and in the bottom drop down select *.jpg

In order to transfer the type of file, you can right click and choose edit which shall open it in paint wher you can choose save as and save it as any type of file you choose. =D

if it doesnt open with fireworks, then copy and paste and then save as a jpeg.
