Software - March 2007

I've tried a couple but I keep ending up with nothing but a half burnt DVD as the programs stall or fail in some way halfway through the burn.

I am currently running vista business, but awhile back i watched a demonstration video of vista and in the video the guy used flip 3d but then he was able to rotate one of the windows and on the back of the window was a notepad like sheet that he was able to write on and then he just rotated the window back to normal. I know how to access flip 3d but i wasnt sure if anyone else has seen this rotation feature or if it exist anymore.

It is the 4 lines that you would see when you send a regular email , it reads.

I was going to send the sheet then desided not to but I have now saved it with this email part at the top. I can print ok, it is just taking up a lot of room on the page. The 4 lines are under the tool bar. I can't find how to delete it and copy and paste is't working because it takes out all of my formulas and I still see the email stuff. Thanks for any advice.

I bought an Acer laptop a couple months ago and I'm having some problems with the optical drive. It won't write CD's anymore, and it's having a hard time reading DVD's. When I build a playlist and burn it, it'll get about 3/4 of the way through and then say an error occured and cancel the disc burn. When I try to import DVD's to my hard drive, it'll get a ways into the import and then say an error ocurred and cancel the import. What's wrong?

When I turn it on, the boot up information shows on my monitor, but then NOTHING. Windows does not come up and the monitor is blank. I know it's not the monitor, because I can obviously see the boot sequence (is that the right term?) What could be the problem?

I have a PC that has triple boot. This is what is happening:
- Installed XP Pro first... everything ok!
- Installed VISTA 2nd, eveyrthing ok! Both systems successfully booted up!
- Installed RHEL 3.0 (as well as GRUB), it successfully installed. However, Linux booted up perfectly, as well as Vista. But NOT XP Pro! When I choose to boot off with XP Pro, I get the blue screen of death! I reinstalled everything twice and exactly the same thing happened both times. When I have XP & Vista together, they both work well, but after installing RHLE 3.0, XP Pro does not boot up.

Any ideas on how to fix this or get around it?

I am trying to complete an electronic application that is written as a PDF file. I downloaded AdobePagemaker trial addition but cannot open the PDF file with this software. Does anyone have idea of how I can open the PDF file in Pagemaker or, more importantly, how I can enter text onto the PDF-format application form? Thanks!

My old laptop died and I had to get a new one - so I was forced to "upgrade" to Vista...not happy (as much of my old software isn't compatible). I used to use Outlook Express to handle my Hotmail account. Outlook Express has been replaced in Vista by "Windows Mail" which doesn't support HTTP servers. Is there a way to uninstall Windows Mail (it's not listed on the add/remove programs list...)? Or is there any other program that I can install that can handle HTTP mail? I installed regular Outlook from Office 2000, however Windows Mail/Vista somehow interferes with Outlook and still gives the message that HTTP isn't supported.

i installed sam linux 2007 and it is on a partitioned space. it won't run now when i try failsafe it comes up with some DMA error can anyone tell me what that is? also i cant run windows anymore although there is a option for windows on the grub screen

I don't have this problem daily, but everytime I do it gets on my nerves. I have two computers, one in the attic which I use all the time, and one in the basement which I am unlucky enough to have to use from time to time. Every thing that is opened, be it a game, Firefox, or something as simple as Wordpad, it will take tons of memory for awhile and the fan in the back of my computer starts blowing at 100000 miles per hour. Right now even, when nothing is taking alot of memory (according to task manager) the fan is really loud and fast. Makes it hard to sleep or even concentrate. Anybody know a solution to help my computer run faster, keep from freezing, and get that stupid fan to shut its mouth?

I have a dell dimension 3000 that I would like to replace motherboard and CPU by the end of the year. I bought it off of a 3rd party vendor 2 years ago and it did not come with the reinstall disk on CD (it works off a partition of the Hard Drive). I have a valid Product Key on the box.

I have seen dell xp home sp2 restore disks going for 20-30 on ebay. Can I use these disks and then register with my valid product key? I am thinking that as long as it is a dell restore disk that matches the version of xp on my dell, I will be ok.

I have read that when I replace my mobo, my system will probably not reboot because of the xp system check.

I am searching for some free virtual drive software.

Best in the sense the CD image should occupy very less space and should be easy to mount.
Should occupy less space.

And i know very little about virtual drives. So please help me by some suggestions. Also about
.ISO and related extensions.

I want to know is there any way to extact files from the CD images.

My Yahoo Mail program crashes every time it tries to open one of those advertisements that require Flash Player, because my computer does not HAVE Flash Player. I know I could download it, but this is a work computer that does not allow me to do any downloads, so that is not an option. Is there anything else I can do that would give me just, maybe, an error message and not a total crash & close of the program? They seem to be having more and more of these type of ads and it is getting frustrating. Thanks!
