Windows XP Pro or home will only allow you to install it on ONE computer only. True or false?

You never really OWN XP, every year you have to pay to get it reactivated, or a upgrade, maintenence, or subcription fee(otherwise if you want to use it year after year, you have to keep paying for it) true or false?

If you decide to upgrade your graphic card, hard drive, memory XP goes stupid and won't work until you call Microsoft to get it reactivated(and maybe pay more money) True or false?

Truth, I do not believe XP the be al that and a bag of micro chips. I see it as a way to keep the consumer in their pocket by making sure all other older, totally free options are gone, and you have to keep paying them getting rooked like you do by the cable and oil companies. True or false.

When you install XP home or Pro you have to buy all new software because anything youhad that worked with Win 9X or 2000 won't work with XP. So, they get more money out of you. True or false?

I've just about finishd building my new PC and if I do say so myself...its really really good. As this is my own PC and I've put alot of money into it I really want it to live for a long time. What do you guys recommend for antivirus software (I HATE Norton)???

I heard you should reformat your PC atleast once a year because of all the crap you've uninstalled and reinstalled and etc. Is this true? My PC is still running in tip top shape, very fast, no problems, responsive.. I only have 23 processes boot up and I keep everything tight and clean with registry cleaners, spyware/malware scans and nod32 for virus protection.

Do you think it's worth a reformat?

Honestly, what would I be benefitting from with the current condition of my machine?
(Asking now because this week, I do have the time and effort to get it done)

ok i unhooked the vista hhd & left the # 2 drive hooked up imma install xp on that & hook it back up & try to format will this work cuz it wont let me do it from the xp disk the agrement page where u have to push f8 it wont let me push it

I bought a portable hard drive a little under a month ago to store about 14000 iTunes songs, but I also had about 150 on my hard drive at the time.I lent my portable to a neighbor. When I got it back and tried to play songs, iTunes said it cannot locate the file. This is where I really f'd it up. First, I moved a lot of folders, which were already stored on my portable to another part of the portable. All of these files are now redundant. I then removed iTunes & real player from my computer, and re-installed them to my portable. So with the new version on my portable, all my purchased songs are gone, and my entire library isn't listed there anymore. Please help me.

When I try opening Ragnarok, for some unknown reason, I get the following error message:
"Please go to the Control Painel to install and configure the system components".

I have no idea what is this about. This message doesn't specify if I should maybe reinstall a video driver, get a missing dll file or whatever. If you guy got the same trouble, or have any idea about what I could do, please tell me.

I need a new PC. My old laptop crashed, literally. I am thinking of getting a dell with an intel core duo processor, 1.73 ghz. It would have 2G of ram. Would this be enough of a computer to comfortable use word processing, email, internet, and downloading movies and music? Or is vista so much of a hog that these are bare system requirements?

I want this computer to last me a few years (4 - 5). Do you think that the computer i specified could do the trick, or should I go with a more expensive mac for my basic computing needs?

I have just got my new Laptop and it has Vista pre installed on it. The machine is an intel T550 intel duo core2 and 2GB ram. So far there are 3 programs that have issues under vista, and my graphics card options menu is not working like it did in xp. I know in time Vista will be as good as XP. But do you think i should just scrap it and go back to XP. I presume my pc will be alot faster in xp will it?

I'm using Firefox with Yahoo as my home page. My page looks like this:
Top line - blue Yahoo!... Firefox
Next line down - File,Edit,History,Bookmarks,Yahoo!,Tools,Help
Next line down - blank
Next line - Y!, picture of a pencil, place to search, several icons
Next line - another place to search

Too, many lines! How do I get rid of the blank separator? I've tried everything I know. Thanks.

I went to Best Buy to check out the prices and Windows XP still costs $200 and for another $150 I could get a new PC. My PC is abvout 4 years old so I no longer have the disc that came with it, and I was wondering is there anything I can do at this point? Is there a web-site I can download the XP to a floppy disc? I'm lost......I'm currently in the Army Reserves and my e-mails are very important, however I don't have the money right now to be spending it on computers....any answers would be appreciated...

I wanted to be a software engineer, but i've seen that i want to spend the whole of my life programming. i love working with computers. i have thereby decided to instead minor in computer science, but now i'm confused on what to major in.
