i am trying to format, but canot, it says badmbr?

how can i get round this
i am using partition magik and its says i have a madmbr and it wont format.

Sounds like your Master Boot Record is hosed. What you'll need to do is run the recovery console on a windows CD and use the command fixmbr

the mbr is the master boot record, this is where the software to load windoes when you start your PC is stored. Try booting from your windows install cd, going to recovery console and typing fixmbr.

It,s a virus, get a boot up disk, boot into dos and re format your hard drive.
