I have just got my new Laptop and it has Vista pre installed on it. The machine is an intel T550 intel duo core2 and 2GB ram. So far there are 3 programs that have issues under vista, and my graphics card options menu is not working like it did in xp. I know in time Vista will be as good as XP. But do you think i should just scrap it and go back to XP. I presume my pc will be alot faster in xp will it?
Thanks:

Yes, I think you should scrap Vista. Instead of XP, tho get kubuntu at www.kubuntu.org. Kubuntu has many advantages over Windows XP/Vista but here are a few:
1. Security. There are 114,000 viruses that infect Windows that do not infect Kubuntu.
2. Stability. Some Linux and Kubuntu machines have remained on, without rebooting for months or even years. Windows often requires a reboot at each installation of software or drivers.
3. Reliability. Far less bug fixes than Windows.
4. Cost. Cost savings of hundreds of dollars.
5. There are many, many reasons why Linux is superior to Windows such as no irritating reactivation is required.

Go to windows update for Vista the first batch of fixes are already out service pack 1. Microsoft is the only company I know that can sell unfinished or poor quality products and ask the customers to find the faults and tell them about it.
Also check out the website for your graphix card. They may have an update ready for you.
Personally I'm going to wait and get vista when it includes 2 or 3 service packs and all the kinks are ironed out.

I don't think you can swap Vista for XP. You may have to uninstall Vista (see if the seller will sell you the program on disk) and buy and install XP. They are two separate and distinct programs - not exchangeable.

Yes, but if you bought a certain brand name laptop such as Dell, you will have to get a Windows XP specifically designed for the Dell motherboard, which isn't really for sale.
