every time i try to type somthing it says this modification is not allowed bc the document is locked.? what does that mean? and how do i fix it? i need microsoft word nothing else will do. so dont gimme that bull crap about some other program to use i need Mic. word.

I am currently working for a large IT company and want to break out of the politics by becoming a contractor. I have Visual Basic studio 2005. Can I make an app. that doesn't load onto the start menu, Add/remove programs, etc.? I want just a stand alone, and the publisher automatically does the start menu install.

lately my computer has been running slow and i was told if i wanted it to run fast again i needed to backup my files and do a system restore im computer literate but have never done that before. i have bought the disk and have a dvd/cd drive and a dvd/cd/rw drive how may i do this so i can do system restore. I would like to keep similar files on the same disc (such as games or printing items etc...) some of the operating disc i have that came with the computer, and what do i do with the software that came with the computer but has been updated over the internet and the disc is not the latest version.thanks

So I've got two columns in excel. In column A, I have dollar amounts, and in column B, I have text, such as gas, grocery, etc. I want to shade column A a certain color depending on the corresponding value in column B (yellow for gas, red for grocery, etc). Any idea how to do this? I set the conditional formatting based on the formulas "IF(B1="gas", A1, A1)" and "IF(B1="grocery",A1,A1)" and set the shading to a different color. It worked for that cell, but when I copy it to another cell, it doesnt update the cell numbers. ie, when I use it on A2, it still evaluates it based on B1.

tried using windows movie maker to make video cd but as it uses HiMat it plays on my PC and laptop but not on my standalone dvd player attached to the TV. Would appreciate any help on which format I need to use and which software would provide me with what I need to save it and edit it.

i have a motorola razr (D&G) And a bluetooth pc, i can send data from my pc to my phone i.e pictures and songs, but i can get my pc to discover the phone even though the bluetooth power is turned on a enabled on the phone???

how can i send files from my phone to the pc!!!!

I have a Dell Latitude D600. I am trying to install a web cam and its popping up with an error during driver install that the laptop needs to be USB Enabled. Thing is it's in a docking station and the printer has a USB cable and it works fine. Any ideas? Maby thanks!

The arial font, ordinary (I've still got italic, bold) has vanished from my computer. It's not in the fonts file. I've checked a lot of free font sites but none have arial. Does anybody know where I can download it for free?

Ok I going on 3 years of having my laptop, and like always with my computers I own its not as fast as I've 1st got it (the DVD and video program has been my biggest deals as of late with it not running smooth all the time and DVD not running with any program and to make worse it wil play smooth for a secound only to max out computer utilites and turns the video to choppy to unwatchable). Usally I would just format and quickrestore but since I have no quickrestore, with that formating will leave me with no OS basicly means no laptop and being broke as I'm, I can't (and somewhat won't with all the freeware out their on the internet) buy software along the size like Norton (and out of respect I wont to download bootLeg) so I need to know what software download(s) schould I seek to optimize my computer, espically in performace and ridding my computer of anything that may want to compromise the performance of my computer.

I am studying Java and have downloaded the package JDK from Sun MIcrosystem. I am running Win98 2nd.ed. I am trying to do the first example HelloWorld and it does not work. I typed the code in the Dos edit window and saved it, then like the book says in a second window I ran javac to compile it and then I tried to run it. I get an error message file not found. With text pad I get something going but still does not work and get an error message, I followed the help instructions and inserted in the autoexec bat the line C:\j2sdk 1.4.2_12 but it does not work.Getting desperate. Can you help?

Ok...when i go to microsoft word....i can't copy and paste anything in to it.....i can type stuff and save it..but i just can't copy and paste...everytime i try to ...it says that it "exceeds the size limit, try reducing the size and try again"....but i could just be pasting 1 tiny little letter and it won't work....and i really need this fixed because of school..please help
