I have a PC and have recently installed iTunes. I've downloaded tons of music from iTunes music store and want to protect my investment. How do I back up the iTunes library/songs?

The files for Itunes are stores in
My Documents > My Music > iTunes

or

C:\Documents and Settings\ComputerName\My Documents\My Music\iTunes

Simply copy them onto discs or an external hard drive.

Burn the contents of your music library to a disk. I'm not sure where the iTunes folder is located on a PC. On a Mac, it's in the user's library folder. PCs don't have the same file structure. Check out Apple's site for info, I'm sure you'll find it there.

Backing up the iTunes folder is the easiest way to go, because it saves all of your music and it's metadata, and you'll be able to fit most of your music on one disk, depending on the size of your library.

Get the biggest iPod you can afford (your library will grow) and copy them all onto the iPod. There's software out there that can rip them back off the iPod, that's saved my butt a few times.

Don't back it up on your computer. Buy and external hardrive and put and 80 GB drive into it. it will cost around $150.00 and then its transportable so you can swap with other computers. also you can keep tracks on it that you don't want to dump but you don't want to be taking up space on your computer

Burn your music onto CD's, that's the most reliable way.
