I would like to keep similar files on the same disc (such as games or printing items etc...) some of the operating disc i have that came with the computer, and what do i do with the software that came with the computer but has been updated over the internet and the disc is not the latest version.thanks

You dont wanna use system restore for a slow computer. System restore should only be used when your on able to access windows or if it gets messed up really bad. If you have a slow running system, you should download a few programs to disable start up items, clean the registry, and make it run faster. Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3, XoftSpy, Registry Repair & Security Task Manager.

Personally I would make use of a backup software application such StompSoft's PC Backup or equivalent application. By doing this you can ensure that everything that you want saved is saved. Though I am curious as to whether you are just restoring your system to a previous windows restore point or are you actually backing up your data and performing a complete re-installation. Either way, this advice holds true. Good luck.

if you are computer literate, you should have no trouble running the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, it's rather useful for this type of thing

if you are not, fire it up and press the F1 key
