When I turn on my computer and Windows starts... An error window pops up and says"...file MSVCR71.dll not found. Reinstalling the application may solve the problem." I'm not sure what that means.

Looking through magazines and official sites, I see prices in the hundreds for such things as CS2 Adobe illustrator or photoshop.

However looking in E-bay, or elsewhere, the prices vary from that down to a few quid.

Same with microsoft word/excel etc. Every computer I've ever had has always had these on it, yet prices for even older versions always seem very high.

so what's going on?

hopefully this is the right place to ask this. I am working on writing a story and I was wondering if there was a way to make notes within my writing that doesn't actually show up in the document (sort of like post-it notes stuck on a page?) so that I don't lose something that I'd like to add later.
Of if you have any ideas on how to take notes or something. *shrugs* I'm open to any suggestions really.

The scenario is: My laptop has no CD Rom. I have a 20Gb HDD which is split into 2 partitions. The secondary partition is a small partiton onto which I can copy the full contents of a Win98se disk (call it partition D). The primary partition which has Win98se on it, I wish to wipe & reinstall win98se.(call it C).
I know how to wipe this drive C.
I can boot from a floppy drive using a boot up floppy disk to get to the A prompt ..presumably this will relate to the 1st partition.
Can anyone tell me if I can use the win98se files on D partition to install a functioning operating system on C, using DOS.
If so, what are the step by step the commands & actions I have to do from the A prompt, inorder to get win98se (All 98se files currently on the 2nd partition) installed as a functioning operating system on the 1st partition C.
If there is another way WITHOUT CD support, please advise
An external USB CDROM wont be the answer.

Is there software available to do this, the name of it and where I can purchase it. I belong (paid) to a forum and they arbitrarily and capriciously ban me from time to time. I'd like to log in under an alias but I keep getting their banned message as they know it is my computer or IP address or whatever. Help!

I recently bought a brand new computer, and installed Itunes in it. Now I am unable to get track info from Gracenote. I have an internet connection, and I am Itunes-literate. Perhaps I unknowingly have a filter set up blocking Gracenote from my cd? Any help would be appreciated.

Why does every thing crash when... I browse some folders? It is usually "My Videos" photos. It crashes everytime I go into it whether it be using Windows Explorer, ImageShack, or other misc. programs. When I am browsing to open a file, it always crashes when I open "My Videos". I don't think it is a virus. I have run many different antivirus programs and nothing has shown up. Any suggestions?

I am unable to see the display or image from the person I am talking to on Yahoo Messenger 8.0 All I see is on my side is a small square black box with no image in it. I check the general tab to make sure that I am able to see image or display picture from the other person. However, the other person is able to see my display image or picture. We both are using the latest version of Yahoo Messenger 8.0

How can I paste word document (like letter or article) into PSD document? (Photoshop format), I designed brochure in Photoshop and I want to add it some text that was written in word 2002 but I don’t know how should I do it. Can anybody help? In fact I want to combine PSD document with word document.

i have been trying to get my sims 2 game to work but after i install it a box comes up saying " Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatable graphics adapters in the system. please make sure you have Directx 9.0c compatable graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. the application will now terminate" ahhhhhh this is soo frustrating. how do i get that adapter ive already tried to install directx 9.0c run-time thing on microsoft.com. i need some step by step help!!! pleasssssee!!
