i have been trying to get my sims 2 game to work but after i install it a box comes up saying " Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatable graphics adapters in the system. please make sure you have Directx 9.0c compatable graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. the application will now terminate" ahhhhhh this is soo frustrating. how do i get that adapter ive already tried to install directx 9.0c run-time thing on microsoft.com. i need some step by step help!!! pleasssssee!!

Some video drivers need to install with their own copy of DirectX
There are three tools that I would use for this troubleshooting. The first one tests your computer and gives links on things that need to be updated.
In the black box, pick The Sims 2 - or the version in question

Also see EA Easy info Tool. This tool is included with your game and helps troubleshoot. You can use this info and EA can help you figure it out.

And if you're using XP
In XP, you can run a diagnostic from START/RUN
type in
dxdiag
Run the various tests to get diagnostics on your system. You need to be able to have hard and software that can run version 9.x of DirectX -- normally it is included with your video software but it can be downloaded for free from your vid card homepage, to upgrade your video drivers.
