how can i get neroburn to make a backup of my dvd to my hard drive?

There are a few different versions of Nero so I can't be too specific. But in the early stages select "Data Disc" and look around and you should see the recorder to choose. Normally this is set to your DVD burner and you never change it. In this case drop down the menu and choose "DVD Image Recorder"
