This may happen if your Office clipboard is full. Select 'Edit' from the menu, then 'Office Clipboard'. The clipboard will display on the right side of the screen. Click the 'Clear All' button at the top of the clipboard. That should enable you to copy/paste again.

reinstall word, Taht's About the Best Thing For It, And Then If It Still Doesn't Word It's Something Else Like A Problem With Your System Bus Or A Bug In The MS Office Framework in general.
Does this happen in excel or Powerpoint etc. ?

It sounds to me like you are having a memory conflict problem. Have you ever installed an older version of Word on you computer before? If so, go to the uninstall control panel and uninstall all versions of Word (or Office, if you have the entire suite) that have ever been installed on your computer. Reboot your computer and then install Word (or Office again) from scratch.
Also, do you have any other kind of word processing program on your computer? Word is kind of territorial and is not happy when there are other word processors around.

Hi there -
Might be a corrupt Normal.dat file. This is the Word template that starts every time you open word. To fix it just delete it and restart Word, it will be recreated. You can find it at this location in XP Pro but it might be at C: instead of D: and it will be under your username instead of Herb.AMD
\D:\Documents and Settings\Herb.AMD\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
Good luck.

OK, 1 of 3 things is happening here. 1 your physical memory is full & you need to restart in order to clear it. 2 your clip board settings are not set properly or as I guy here said that you may need to reinstall because the installation went sour.

in addition to what the others are saying. you might check what other programs and system services are running in the background. They all eat at your memory
