I have a Dell Latitude D600. I am trying to install a web cam and its popping up with an error during driver install that the laptop needs to be USB Enabled. Thing is it's in a docking station and the printer has a USB cable and it works fine. Any ideas? Maby thanks!

Make sure all USB ports are enabled in BIOS. Enter BIOS by pressing F2 just before system boots and you should look for USB Function Support.

What error message exactly? what are you trying to acheive? what driver(s) are you trying to install?

It sounds like the USB is installed and works fine. to check, go Start menu --->control panel ----> Administrative Tools ------>Computer management.
from the panel that opens you want "device manager".
The USB should be all the way @ the bottom, labeled "USB Contoller"

I am unsure of specifics, not owning that particular lappy, but you first want to find out what chipset it is.

Commercial diagnostics/benchmarking software such as Sandra should be able to do this. Alternitivley the dell website/tech support should be able to inform you(There may also be updated drivers on the website that maybe spolve your problem).

The laptop may not support the cam and dock your best bet is to call dell they have a great support group and are best qualified to answer your question. Getting help for your computer from a stranger on the Internet is not recommended

If I had to guess, you should go first to your...

Control Panel
Choose System
Click Device Manager
Go to the bottom, right click on USB and hit Properties

Check to see if they are disabled, though I don't know why they would be.
