Security - October 2007

I keep getting pop ups on my computer from CiD! I've never heard of this before. I've ran several spyware/virus scans and found nothing. i've tried manually searching my C drive and found CiD but it says it's a windows program. i put it in my recycle bin just 2 be on the safe side though. i did not fully delete it though. I still receive these pop ups constantly...i have pop up blockers on as well.....SOMEONE HELP!

ive just removed a zlob trogan virus that has been effecting my computor.
it seems that it has gone.
i used kapersky to remove it, and everything seems to be right as rain, once again :]
ive also used ad-aware spyware remover and it shows me that there is no new objects recognised.
is there a chance at all that it will still be in my computor?
and can i use my interent banking again?

Im so confused!

When setting up SECURITY-ENABLED NETWORK, it asked for a Security Key or Passphrase... and I dont remember I have ever entered one..???

Where do I get them?? Plleeeeeeease.....

I have tried EVERYTHING. proxies worked great until about 2 months (my senior year in DECA OFCOURSE). All proxies are blocked, all free hosts EVERYTHING. Vtunnel.com worked for a little while very limited but it and all of its sister sites were soon blocked. I have nothing better to do in this DECA class but do the weekly projects and surf the internet which is atm NOT available. I have access to the teacher log in to windows, but it doesnt allow me to get past the blocker. Someone PLEASE help so I can pass this senior year a little more smoothly.

I had etrust but it was a year old and I need updates right. But the guy assured me that etrust is now CA. He said $60 n I said kool send me the Suite. He sent me the suite. I checked on the net, after I received it, (i bought my lap top from him so I trusted him right!) and lo, there is actually a 2008 version already out. Plus, where my old etrust was great, this one suddenly lets in pop ups that I had never seen before. Why didnt I get the 2008 version is gonna be my question to him. Further on the pack it says OEM version, not for individual retail sale... anyone let me know what happened!!! please!

I am using the free version of avg, it is not removing the virus, this makes me unable to open my drive directly, instead i use right and open. Can anyone suggest me how to solve the problem without formatting my xp and the free antivirus software that can be used to clean this virus

i was chatting on yahoo messenger and a photo share file popped up all by itself on messenger requesting that my friend open it. it was called notworkingsmall[1]jpg. neither i nor my friend had sent each other a file to share so he did not click on it and neither did i. we did a search to make sure it wasn't on our computers anywhere. could this have been a random virus attempting to spread?

My McAfee protection expires today and I borrowed a Norton Antivirus from somebody that can be stored on 3 computers. She said it dont' go out until April. I like McAfee better and will be renewing McAfee later next week. I just wanted to know if I could keep McAfee on there without uninstalling it until I get ready to update it, or will that mess up or slow my computer down in some way?

For some reason when it states "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD A PROGRAM TO ELIMINATE THE THREAT" I do so, downloading the program, but when I run the program it states "You are making so and so run in an unusual way" and it doesn't work.

Norton is doing nothing...

Hello everyone,
i'm a developer and i have all kinds of servers running on my computer. so i need really powerful anti-virus and firewall to secure my system. i've been using norton internet security for years, but it's such huuuuuge pain in the butt. i've decided to abandon norton internet security from now on and use symantec antivirus instead. most of my friends told me that symantec antivirus is an awesome choice (and i can get it from school for free). but i've never used it before and uncertain if it's suitable for me.

do you think this is the right move?
what would be your recomandation?
