Windows ME was released in 2000. It the last version of the Windows 95/98/98SE line. It was intended for home computers.
The same year Windows 2000 was also released. It was the last in line of the versions of Windows NT intended for business, commercial and government use.
Windows XP was released in 2002. It replaced both the 95/98 line for home computers and the Windows NT/2000 line for business computers with only one product.
There is both a Home and Professional (Business) version of XP. But unlike 95 and NT which were very different, the two versions of XP are the same except the Pro version has more networking capability.

Yes. Windows ME was released after Windows 98, as a stopgap measure by Microsoft because the "unifying" version of their operating system, Windows 2000, was released without some of the features Microsoft believed consumers wanted. A little over a year after the release of Windows ME, Microsoft released Windows XP in Home and Pro versions, creating a unified code base for its consumer and business versions of Windows.

Yes. Windows ME was released after Windows 98. It was a grotesque mutant version of 98. ME also was the first Windows version that did away with the "Boot into DOS" option that was present in earlier versions of Windows. I really don't like it being reminded of it. It gives me nightmares...
